As of 7 p.m. Tuesday night, every road in the area is either ice-covered, contains black ice or has patchy ice. It is not safe to travel.

The City of Vicksburg is under curfew until 12 p.m. Wednesday, exceptions only for emergencies or essential workers.  Any non-mandatory travel should be postponed, it is simply too dangerous.

The weather will drop into the low 20’s overnight and will not go above freezing until noon or so on Wednesday. There is a 100% chance of rain on Wednesday that may clear some of the snow and ice during the day. That rain will turn into ice overnight.

There is a chance of thunderstorms Wednesday night that may drop up to 2 inches of rain on the area.

The National Weather Service in Jackson is forecasting a significant winter storm Wednesday night and into Thursday. That storm may bring more rain, snow and sleet to the area exasperating an already icy situation.
