Robert ‘Bobby’ Boyd Hodnett, 1963 – 2020

Robert “Bobby” Boyd Hodnett, 57, of Straight Bayou, Mississippi, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020. Services for Bobby will be held at Straight Bayou Baptist Church Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020. Visitation will be at 9 a.m., funeral at 10 a.m., and a graveside burial will follow. Pallbearers will be Jess Hodnett, Steven Hodnett, Rad Stigall, Rob Stigall, Gus Eifling, Jake Perkins, Chip Branning and Darrell Dew.

Bobby was born in Fort Rucker, Alabama, on Jan. 29, 1963, to William “Bill” Jesse Hodnett and Ruth Boyd Hodnett. He was a member of the Straight Bayou community where he and his family enjoyed gathering and shared a faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Bobby served as a conservation officer for the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks for 17 years. As an outdoorsman, Bobby enjoyed hunting and sharing stories of his experiences with family and friends. He was loved by his family and will be missed by all that knew him.

He is preceded in death by his son Andrew Malcom Hodnett. Bobby is survived by his parents, William “Bill” Jesse Hodnett and Ruth Boyd Hodnett of Straight Bayou, Mississippi; brother, William “Billy” Jesse Hodnett Jr. (Sharon) of Straight Bayou, Mississippi; son Robert “Bob” Boyd Hodnett Jr. (Lindsey) of Anguilla, Mississippi; daughter, Sydney Hodnett DeFillips (Matthew) of Cleveland, Mississippi; and grandchildren Drew, Caitlin and Ruthie Hodnett.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Straight Bayou Baptist Church.
