on

Rodney Nathaniel Walters was born September 3, 1949 in Vicksburg, Miss. On April 15, 2020, in the comfort of his Eagle Lake home, he left this life for the next.

Rodney lived a life he loved filled with small eccentricities. He was an avid gun collector, but did not hunt, but loved deer camp. Rodney was a fabulous storyteller with the ability to make you laugh until you cried. He enjoyed traveling with his friends, and since retiring from the Corp, had been from coast to coast.

From the first time you met Rodney, whether you knew him as a coworker, friend, or acquaintance, he was that guy that left the lasting impression. He was that go-to friend, the one that came when you called no matter the need.

We all have Rodney Walter stories, if we were able to gather in group, we could tell stories for days, and never tell the same story twice.

Rodney is survived by his lifelong friend, Karen Harper; two sisters, Paula Jones (David) and Patricia Bryant (Jerry); two brothers, Don Hynum (Tracy) and Mike Hynum (Sandra); seven nieces and nephews, Cody Bryant, Nathan Jones (Leanne), Stephanie Hux (Daniel), Sheila Smith (Steve) Kris Hynum (Maggie), Timmy Hynum (Marianne) and Josh Hynum (Kellen); eight great nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins.

Rodney is preceded in death by his father, Melvin Walters, and his mother, Emily Jo Walters Hynum.

As per Rodney’s request, there will be no memorial service.

A private graveside service will be held at Cane Ridge Cemetery in Lorman, Miss.
