Sarah Allene Hallberg Dabney, 1930 – 2022

Sarah Allene Hallberg Dabney, 92, passed away on 12/25/2022 at her daughter’s home surrounded by family. After four months without her love by her side, they are finally reunited in their heavenly home. Allene was born on February 23, 1930, in Vicksburg, MS, to Walter Bhrem Hallberg, Sr., and Mary Ava Downey Hallberg.
Allene attended Carr Central High School. She worked for Merchants Bank in Vicksburg as one of the first women tellers. She worked at Spencer Chemical Company as a payroll clerk for many years before meeting the love of her life, Lucius. Allene married Lucius Bryan Dabney, Jr. on December 23, 1964. Allene became a homemaker and worked as the secretary at her home church Gibson Memorial United Methodist Church in Vicksburg, for about 20 years, where she was a lifelong member.
llene and Lucius had six children, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Allene was full of joy, laughter, kindness, and love, but mostly love for her children, grandchildren, and kitty cats. She never spent a day in her life without having a love of a cat, even until her death. Although she will be missed dearly by those she is leaving behind, we are rejoicing that she will be reunited with her parents, husband, son, and son-in-law. We will miss our phone calls to catch up while we are on the road until we see you again; we love you, Momma, Grandma, and Gran.
