Saturday concludes National Telecommunications Week

Saturday concludes National Telecommunications Week.

In previous years, the week has been surrounded by area businesses donating meals and prizes for the men and women who staffed Vicksburg Warren E-911.

This year, as was the case in 2020, efforts have been greatly scaled back.

Considered the first line of defense in public safety, far too often the pressure-fueled job goes unnoticed. These men and women deal with a high volume of intense calls, while deploying the needed resources to respond to a wide array of issues.

Locally, the agency is headed by Director Shane Garrard, Deputy Director Bobby Rufus, along with Administrative Assistant Cindy Alkhatib.
