Saturday, Nov. 2m at 8 p.m., enjoy Fred T and the Band in concert onstage at the Strand Theatre (717 Clay St.) .

Fred T and the Band won the 2019 Vicksburg Blues Challenge and will be representing the Vicksburg Blues Society at the 2020 International Blues Challenge (IBC) in Memphis, Tenn., in January.

Born in Crystal Springs and growing up in Harrisville, Miss., Fred T. (Fredrick T. Robinson) likes to tell people, “I’m just a little ole country boy.”

Over his career, Fred T has played in the bands of Bobby Rush, D’Mar & New Funk Society and Coupe de Belle. He has also played onstage with music greats King Edward, Eddie Shaw, Otis Clay and the late, great B.B. King at Medgar Evers 50th Year Anniversary.

He now fronts his five-member band, Fred T and The Band. Hot blues, Southern gospel and a whole lot of life give Fred T a soulful sound unlike any other.

In 2016 , 2017 and 2019, Fred T and the Band represented the Central Mississippi Blues Society in the International Blues Competition in Memphis, Tenn.
