Security guard robbed and shot Friday at New Main Apartments

A security guard was robbed and shot at Vicksburg’s New Main Apartments Friday night.

Vicksburg police officers responded to the complex, located at 2727 Alcorn Drive, at 9:46 p.m. Friday for a reported shooting, where they found the New Main security guard had suffered a gunshot wound to his lower left leg.

The shooting took place after two male subjects wearing masks approached the guard demanding money. A struggle between them took place that ended with the guard being shot. The subjects fled with guard’s wallet and the keys to his vehicle.

The guard was transported to Merit Health River Region. His condition is not known at this time.
