Segrest signs to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College
Warren Central High School girl’s basketball player Zy’Kerri Segrest signed a scholarship on Friday to play for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
Segrest spent her senior season leading the Lady Vikes to the first round of the playoffs, heavily contributing to her team’s success by going hard inside the paint. Her best performance of the year was against Raymond High School. The Vikes gave the Lady Rangers their first loss of the season and Segrest scored 24 points along with grabbing 10 rebounds in the 39-36 win.
Always having the potential to play college basketball, Segrest easily chose MS Gulf Coast as her next destination.
“The whole organization made me feel like I was at home and I love the school and the coaching staff,” Segrest said.
Reflecting back on her senior year under head coach Dareian Hillard, Segrest was proud of how of how the Lady Vikes played as a team to secure some big wins.
“I feel that we did great this year even though I think we should’ve made it a little further but I’m really proud of us.”
Throughout all the hard work Segrest put in over the years, she finally witnessed it all pay off, surrounded by the people closest to her on her big day.
“I really want to thank my family, friends, teammates and coaches for always sticking by me and and helping me make the right decisions.”
