Senior citizen injured after overturning vehicle on Highway 3

A senior citizen received injuries after falling asleep behind the wheel on Highway 3 on Sunday.

Around 4 p.m. on Sunday, Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a one-vehicle crash on Highway 3 in Warren County. A 2013 Honda CR-V was found overturned off the roadway.

The vehicle, driven by 80-year-0ld Jackson resident Lydia Pitts, left the roadway near Bell Bottom Road. Pitts reported she had fallen asleep at the wheel while traveling southbound.

Pitts received non-life-threatening injuries from the crash and was transported to Merit Health in Vicksburg.

The crash remains under investigation.
