Several police calls cited over the weekend
There were several calls to 911 over the holiday weekend. Here is a partial list along with other reports the Vicksburg Daily News has been following:
According to Deputy Chief Mike Bryant, police responded to a disturbance call at New Main Apartments. At about 1:30 a.m. on December 31, 2023, several units including marked and unmarked vehicles were dispatched to the call. No other information was offered by the Vicksburg Police Department.
Chief Bryant also reported that at about the same time officers were dispatched to Jacques after a fight broke out between, “A number of females.” Two were arrested and warrants are pending against others.
Shooting into a dwelling
A shooting into an occupied dwelling on Martin Luther King is still under investigation. On December 27, 2o23, at about 2:30 p.m., Chief Bryant reported via email that “A male subject driving a white sedan fired from his vehicle and struck a house in the 1900 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard. No one was injured.” Bryant promised to update the information as it becomes available.
A rumor of an incident at the McNutt House on December 31, 2023, is not founded, according to Chief Bryant. He stated that, “The only thing I could find about the McNutt House was someone called 911 around 7:00 pm on December 30, 2023 to report that a party was taking place there. Apparently, this complainant, who sounded like a teenager, either was not allowed to go to the party or was not invited to it, so she called a false complaint to 911.”
Additionally, Bryant offered, “We have outstanding warrants for the arrest of the suspect in the domestic assault that occurred on Jackson Street Friday afternoon. (See today’s press release.)” However, the Vicksburg Daily News has not received a press release about this situation.
