Several Vicksburg residents arrested over the weekend on drug charges

Four Vicksburg residents were arrested for unrelated drug crimes by Vicksburg Police over the weekend.

Methamphetamine possession

According to a press release, on Saturday, officers performed a traffic stop on Curtis Tippen, 49, on Interstate 20, near Highway 61 North.

During the stop, police found approximately 1.6 grams of methamphetamine.

Tippen was arrested at the scene and charged with possession of methamphetamine.

Also on Saturday, Curtis Nevels, 58, was found to be in possession of methamphetamine during a traffic stop.

Nevels was the passenger of a vehicle that was stopped for a traffic violation. During the stop, authorities recovered methamphetamine.

Nevels was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine.

Drug possession

On Sunday, Vicksburg police performed a traffic stop in the area of Interstate 20 and Highway 61 South.

William Edward Massey, 26, was found to be in possession of a felony amount of illegal drugs. 31.1 grams of methamphetamine and 15.4 grams of marijuana were found within Massey’s vehicle. A firearm was also recovered from the vehicle.

Massey was arrested and charged with trafficking a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and received an enhanced penalty for weapon possession.

Methamphetamine and marijuana

Following a traffic stop on Sunday, Vicksburg police found Johnny Ailes, 41, in possession of 2.7 grams of methamphetamine and 4 grams of marijuana.

Ailes was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana.

Bound to the Warren County Grand Jury

Each resident was seen in Vicksburg Municipal Court on Monday before Judge Angela Carpenter. Tippen was given a $35,000 bond, Nevels was given a $35,000 bond, Massey was given a $125,000 bond and Ailes was given a $35,000 bond.
