With the possibility of severe weather conditions predicted for Thursday, 2020 could leave us with one more punch to the gut before it departs.

Current forecast models call for thunderstorms throughout the day into the evening hours Thursday. The models indicate storms will intensify in the Vicksburg Warren County area around midday.

Warren County Emergency Management Director John Elfer encourages residents to pay attention to changing conditions, have more than one way to receive warnings and ensure adequate shelter. In addition, it’s always a good idea to have 72 hours’ worth of supplies, cash and prescriptions, and a way to charge cellphones.

Last week, as many as four tornadoes were confirmed by the National Weather Service in areas served by the Jackson office. Please take these impending storms seriously and prepare for them.
