Wanted sex offender taken into custody

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) – The Port Gibson Police Department arrested Jessie Ray Timmon Tuesday night at a safety checkpoint. Timmon was wanted for failure to reregister his sex offender status.

A safety checkpoint was set up by the Port Gibson Police Department Tuesday. After 6:30 p.m., Officer Clinton Robinson spotted Timmon attempting to pass the checkpoint.

Timmon was taken into custody by officers at the scene.
