In January of 2012, Jackson was welding security bars at Tri-Miss Recycling in Jackson. David Thomas and Jontez Garvis approached Jackson and mugged him. He was beaten and left for dead. Jackson spent more than a month at a hospital in a coma but eventually died.

Garvis pleaded guilty in April of 2016 and was sentenced to 25 years in prison with 20 to serve. Thomas was convicted of capital murder and was sentenced to life without parole.

On Monday, Warren County deputies responded to a 911 call which alerted them to a possible dead body at a home in the 200 block of Lealand Drive. Deputies found Hedrick’s body with at least one apparent gunshot wound.

Several hours later, authorities arrested John Shoemaker, 62, and charged him with first degree murder.

Shoemaker appeared in Justice Court on Tuesday and was denied bond until an official bond hearing could be scheduled to allow Shoemaker council.

The investigation into Hedricks death is ongoing. Updates will be provided as they are made public.
