Sherry Janelle “Jan” Dickerson Little, 61, of Vicksburg, Mississippi, passed away on Apr. 8.
Jan was born in Prentiss, Mississippi, on Apr. 1, 1961 to Douglas and Carolyn Dickerson. She graduated from New Hebron High School in 1979, and attended Copiah Lincoln Community College where she was a member of the Colettes.
Jan was married to Charlie Little on Feb. 26, 1983 in New Hebron, Mississippi. They were married for 39 years.
Jan began working at Hennessy Insurance in 1983. After the birth of her beloved children, Joel and Mallory, she became a full-time mother and homemaker. After many cherished years raising her children, she was employed by the Vicksburg-Warren School District as a teacher assistant, serving in many roles at Redwood Elementary and Beechwood Elementary. Jan would go on to retire and finish her career as an administrative assistant at ERDC.
Jan was a long-time member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Vicksburg, where she was involved with her Sunday School class and children’s and youth programs. Always there to offer a warm hug, Jan was known by all to be funny, caring, and kind. She was a fierce bunko or dominoes player, and a die-hard Mississippi State Bulldog fan. Most of all, she was a devoted wife to Charlie, loving mother to Joel and Mallory, and precious “Jan Jan” to her grandsons.
Jan is survived by her husband Charlie of Vicksburg; son, Joel Little (Beth) of Madison; daughter, Mallory Harthcock (Blake) of Kosciusko; parents, Douglas and Carolyn Dickerson of New Hebron; sisters Brenda Lambert (Ricky) and Lisa Griffith (Harold) of Monticello, MS, and Tammy Andrews (Michael) of Ft.
