The OYO Hotel on South Frontage Road in Vicksburg was the scene of a shooting Saturday.

The victim’s body was discovered at the OYO Hotel, 2390 South Frontage Road, just before 11 a.m. Saturday. The call came in to E911 at 10:50 a.m. that a man had been shot.

Vicksburg EMS/Fire and Vicksburg Police were dispatched; however, shortly after their arrival, emergency personnel assigned to Fire Medic 20 cancelled the responding Fire Engine (Engine 2) and requested the coroner be dispatched to the scene.

It is not clear at this time whether the shooting is a homicide.

The OYO is the latest name for the South Frontage Road hotel that has operated in this location since the early 1980s. The owners have invested significantly in recent months to make renovations to the property.
