Shots fired on Polk and Drummond

At about 4:20 p.m. on Wednesday, shots rang out on Polk Street near its intersection with Drummond.
Numerous callers to 911 reported the shots that, according to eyewitnesses, came from 3 young adults. They were shooting from a residence on the south side of Polk in the 1100 block towards another person at the intersection of Drummond. Two of the shots struck a residence at the intersection of Polk and Drummond. A window was hit and part of the overhang was struck.
No one was injured in the incident.
Several shell casings and a hat were recovered from the scene of the shooting. Several area residents have cameras that captured the shooting on video.
Several units with the VPD including Watch Commander Anthony Lane, Nora 1, Donnie Heggins and several investigators arrived at the scene of the shooting.
Residents expressed concern about two rental properties in the area where there has been a history of disturbances. One resident was visibly angry and yelling at law enforcement.
A shooting also happened at Washington and Speed on Friday night, making this the second shooting this week. No one was injured in either incident.
