Warren Central High School football player Malik Sims has received the school’s Golden Helmet Award for his hard work and dedication on the football field.

The Golden Helmet Award is given to one player on the team who has proven to be the overall most valuable player. Sims was excited to receive an award of this nature.

“I would like to first thank God for allowing me to receive the award, and I also want to thank all of Warren Central coaching staff, my 11 brothers, principals, and my mom, dad and brother who are my biggest supporters,” Sims said.

Sims played linebacker for the Vikings over the past three years on the varsity level. He led his team to the playoffs each year as the key defensive player.

He finished his senior season with 82 tackles playing under Warren Central head coach Josh Morgan.

Sims was highly recruited throughout his years as a Viking, and he announced in January that he will play at Hinds Community College in the fall.

Sims will be joined by several of his Vikings teammates at Hinds, and they will begin summer workouts in June.
