Slow down! There are numerous accidents all around town

Since about 4:30 p.m. today, there have been several accidents reported in the Vicksburg, Warren County area.

An accident just occurred at Porters Chapel and Carlton Place with injuries. A 20-year-old is complaining of hip and arm pain. Rescue has been dispatched.

There are currently four accidents on Interstate 20 near mile marker 3: three on the westbound side and one eastbound. One officer is sitting on the Old Highway 27 overpass and has two accidents in his forward view. Traffic is backed up in the area.

Rainy conditions make the roadways slippery. The last two rains have seen some serious damage done to property and sent a few people to the hospital. This past Monday included one accident that shut down the Interstate for an hour or so as they cleared vehicles from the Old Highway 27 overpass. That accident occurred right after they opened the roadway from an accident that caused traffic to be routed onto the Indiana exit.

Please use caution if you have to travel this afternoon. If you are near an accident scene use great caution and allow first responders plenty of room to do their job.
