Fall is back and that means it’s time for soccer, and local teams are preparing for their first games this coming weekend.

The Warren Central High School girls soccer team held a scrimmage Monday night in preparation for games against Raymond High School and Vicksburg High School this weekend.

Anna Hoben is ready for her first official year as a starter.

The Vikings are returning nine seniors from last year’s squad including Maddie Watkins, Aryn Greer and Abbey Fuller who are all willing to do what it takes to help their team succeed. The Vikings completed the scrimmage with a score of 1-0 and are feeling very confident about the game against Raymond and Vicksburg.

“Our defense was very strong on both teams and our forwards were persistent,” said Anna Hoben, a first-year starter for the Vikings.

Hoben mentioned that the Vikings want to carry the momentum from last year when they were the district champs.

“I feel that if we start off strong we will be solid on the field,” Hoben said.

Hoben will be goal keeper this season and hopes to gain to plenty of skills to help the Vikings go even further in the playoffs than last year.

The Vikings will start the season off at home on the newly built turf field in front of supporters from all three schools starting Saturday Nov.  2, at 9 a.m. with Raymond and Warren Central, followed by Warren Central and Vicksburg at 2:20 p.m.
