The Warren County Election Commission has announced a special election for the remaining term of the Warren County Prosecuting Attorney.

The special election will be held on November 2. Candidate qualifying will begin August 4 at 8 a.m. and end September 3 at 5 p.m.  Candidate qualifying will be through the Circuit Clerk’s office.

The County Prosecuting Attorney represents the state in all investigations for felony cases in justice court and county court and in all criminal cases appealed to the circuit court from county court. The county prosecutor also assists the District Attorney, presents matters to the county grand jury and is involved in some youth court proceedings.

Following Ken Harper’s resignation in September of 2020, the Warren County Board of Supervisors appointed Stephen McMillian to serve in the position until the special election in November.  McMillian has indicated that he intends to run in the special election in hopes of serving the remaining duration of the term.
