St. Aloysius girls win district track title; Boys relay teams shine

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The St. Aloysius High School girls’ track team claimed the district title on Thursday with a first-place finish at the district meet hosted by Centreville Academy.
The Lady Flashes turned in several strong performances to secure the championship.
Girls highlights:
- Samantha Edwards took first in the 1600 meters (5:51.90), 800 meters (2:31.65), and tied for first in the 400 meters (1:05.64).
- Megan Theriot placed first in the 400 meters (1:05.64), second in the 200 meters, and third in the 100 meters.
- Madelyn Kavanaugh won the long jump (15-2.5), finished second in the 400 meters, and placed fourth in the 200 meters.
- Annsley Averett placed second in the 100-meter hurdles (18.11) and the 300-meter hurdles (52.02).
- Marley Gibellino took fourth in both the 3200 meters and 1600 meters.
- Julia Moberley earned second in the discus (83-5) and third in the shot put (26-10.75).
- Lauren Flowers placed second in the triple jump (25-0).
- Kelci Bingham finished fourth in the 300-meter hurdles.
- The Lady Flashes won the 4×100 (54.85), 4×200 (1:55.33), and 4×400 (4:33.88) relays.
Boys highlights:
The boys team won the 4×100 relay (47.75), placed second in the 4×400 (4:04.85), and finished third in the 4×800 (14:41.94) and 4×200 (1:43.19).
Dru Gleese finished first in the 110-meter hurdles (26.64), third in the 300-meter hurdles, and fourth in the triple jump.
Beau Brogden took second in the 100 meters (12.26).
Ace Oglesby was third in the 100 meters (12.49) and fourth in the 200 meters.
Carson Gleese placed third in the 400 meters.
Sam Ashley took third in the triple jump (31-9).
