Practicing in high temperatures in full gear for the past few weeks has paid off for St. Aloysius as they traveled to Central Hinds on Monday and came back with a 18-12 win.

Damien Reeves popped things off things off for the Flashes with a 83 yard touchdown followed by 75 yard touchdown pass from John David Liggett to Ahmad Stewart.

Defensively, St. Aloysius played well by only allowing two touchdowns. Thompson Fortenberry and Stewart racked up multiple tackles. Jax Oglesby and came up with a big sack in the win while Land Oglesby grabbed plenty of tackles in the backfield.

Padre Gray, Jr. helped the Flashes take home the win after a pick 6 to end the score at 18-12.

Junior High Game:

St. Aloysius Jr. High team also grabbed a 18-12 after multiple big plays.

Pierson Smith, Carson Gleese and Robert Lee all came up with rushing touchdowns in the victory by carrying the ball well behind the offensive line.

Fred Mixon, Sadler Lambiotte and Holden Davidson all made big stops defensively to hold off Central Hinds.

“All in all I am pleased overall with JV and varsity considering we haven’t really been able to emulate live action because our numbers don’t really allow for it,” Head Coach Bubba Nettles said. “We settled in and ran what we put in this spring. “

“Our JV really operated with efficiency. Sadler Lambiotte did a phenomenal job of commanding the offense. Robert Lee and Pierson Smith are absolute work horses. Holden Davidson made a great catch or two also. Defensively, Fred Mixon was a man possessed. Several massive boom stick tackles. Sadler, Robert and Pierson were also huge on Defense. I was super proud of our JV all the way around.”

“Varsity faced a team that won 8 or 9 ballgames in 5A last year. Central Hinds is a great program and Coach Teasley and his staff are doing a great job over there. I was extremely happy with the way we played on both sides. Depth was a massive concern considering we had injuries to both inside backers and our tight ends, but these kids rose to the occasion.

“Jax Oglesby had a great game mowing down running lanes and causing havoc in the backfield. Pardre gray and Ahmad Stewart played well also. I was really pleased with our quarterback John David Liggett. He made great reads and completed a huge deep ball to Ahmad Stewart for a touchdown. I would have loved to see Carson Smith play a little QB also, but he sustained a shoulder injury and we are all praying for a quick and speedy recovery. He made an awesome catch and landed on it wrong as a multitude of guys were tackling him. I think we made tremendous strides over this spring and our coaching staff did a great job. I’m looking forward to attacking summer workouts.”
