St. Aloysius softball team bring home their first win in over three years

After going nearly three years without a varsity win, the St. Aloysius softball defeated Jackson Academy Thursday night to earn a much deserved victory.
The Lady Flashes showed their true talents in front of fans, family and friends who witnessed the 7-1 win.
Kyleigh Cooper got the win for St. Aloysius, striking out eight batters on the night. She also went 3 for 4 at the plate along with two run scores.
The score remained at zero until the third inning. The Flashes began to rack up multiple hits, finishing with 14 on the night.
Cooper, Ali Grace Luke, Lydia Nettles, Maddy McSherry, Abigail Mikulski, Victoria Morehead and Lili Perniciaro all had hits that contributed to win.
Head Coach Savannah Buck was full of excitement after witnessing how great her athletes performed and how they responded under pressure.
“It’s absolutely amazing and I’m so proud of every one of them,” Buck said. “Kyleigh did really great on the mound and we had some timely hits and defense did amazing.”
Now that the Lady Flashes got their first win of the season, they will strive to to keep it going this weekend when they head to play in a tournament.
