St. Aloysius softball team defeated VHS on Tuesday in summer softball
St. Aloysius softball team defeated Vicksburg High School 7-5 on Tuesday night.
The Missy Gators started the game off hot with a big hit Lexi Lockridge which led her to scoring early for team. Teammates Charli VanNorman, Kellisia Walker and Lydia Nettles also came up with big hits late in the match.
Jordan Grace threw multiple strikeouts which aided the Missy Gators in gaining a 5-1 lead by the fourth inning.
The lead would not last though, with the Missy Gators missing some key players due to other sport obligations. This handicap proved to have a large impact on the team.
Late in the game, the Lady Flashes began to pick up the pace and eventually took the lead after multiple hits at the plate.
Kyleigh Cooper had a outstanding performance on the mound for the Flashes. Cooper managed to strike out many of the Missy Gator’s batters late in the game which proved to aid in turning the tables to their favor.
The Lady Flashes eventually took the lead in the summer game and came out on top as the time expired.
Over the past week, St. Al has been looking better than they have in recent years. The Flashes will now prepare for their upcoming season in August under head coach Savannah Buck.
