“I’ve looked at their files, I’ve looked at their experience and everything,” said Flaggs. “I think this will be the best pathway to the future.”

“It’s been a long time coming. I just appreciated that the Board gave me the opportunity to be successful.”

Martin said his goal is to make the citizens proud and provide the best service possible.

Martin mirrored Stamps’ appreciation and excitement to step into his new role.

“I think it’s going to be a good thing. We’re going to continue providing a great service to the citizens of Vicksburg and Warren County,” said Martin.

The fire chief will create and implement budget strategies for the Vicksburg Fire Department.

As Associate Fire Chief, Martin will assist Chief of the Fire Department on a daily basis, or in absence of the Fire Chief, he will plan, direct, and coordinate activities of the fire department, including fire prevention and suppression, emergency medical services, disaster planning, and hazardous material mitigation.
