Louisiana State Police and other authorities are still in a standoff with the suspect who fled from Warren County deputies Monday morning.

The suspect has spent the past hour pacing back and forth in a field about 100 yards from his vehicle on the side of Highway 65 while authorities and family members try to de-escalate the situation from a safe distance.

Vicksburg Daily News’ Tommy Parker spoke with Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace about the incident that sparked this pursuit turned standoff, which turns out was a simple arrest on misdemeanor warrants uncovered during an investigation into reports of employee theft/embezzlement.  It is unclear how the suspect was involved in that investigation, however, the deputies were attempting to make an arrest on charges unrelated to the theft allegations.

Sheriff Pace reported that not only Investigator Stacy Rollison but another deputy as well was dragged through the parking lot as the suspect fled.  Both deputies are receiving treatment at Merit Health River Region and are expected to fully recover from their injuries.
