After an almost six hour standoff with law enforcement, suspect Michael Jackson, 27, of Vicksburg, has been transported to Madison Parish Hospital following an exchange of gunfire at around 4:15 p.m.

Jackson’s family was present at the scene and are now at the hospital.  His official condition is unknown at this time.  Vicksburg Daily News’ David Day is also present at the Madison Parish Hospital, where it appears that Jackson did not survive his injuries.

At around 3 p.m., authorities began to move family and onlookers further away from the scene and requested that Vicksburg Daily News and other media outlets stop posting information related to the incident. The suspect and people communicating with him were using the information to keep him agitated, according to law enforcement sources.

The suspect had reportedly worked all night before becoming involved in an altercation with two Warren County Deputies at around 8:30 a.m. this morning, as they responded to a call at the Bovina Texaco in reference to an employee removing items from the store.

In an exclusive interview with Vicksburg Daily News, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said that the suspect drug deputies across the parking lot before fleeing.
