Statement from Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs Jr. on power restoration effort

As work crews work to restore power and road closures appear to be abundant, we may sound like a broken record with all the warnings. However, the situation warrants it.
The Vicksburg/Warren area saw a lot of damage in Tuesday’s storms which led to extremely dangerous road conditions. Many trees and power lines are down across roadways and response crews are working vigilantly to recover the roadways and restore services to residents.
In a statement, Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs Jr. stated, “Entergy Mississippi is working as quickly and as safely as possible to restore power to those affected by yesterday’s sever weather. I’m joining Entergy in asking everyone to PLEASE stay away from downed power lines while restoration efforts continue.”
It is imperative the public heed the warnings, as many of these lines may be, or may become energized without notice. Please wait until the all-clear is given from authorities before attempting to clean the debris yourselves, as one hidden power line could be the difference between life and death. As of this reporting, no injuries have been reported due to weather activity from Tuesday.
