Steele Bayou to be reopened

The collective sigh of relief you may have heard in the past couple of hours is coming from residents of the South Delta. Drew Smith, Chief of Water Management for the Vicksburg District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has confirmed that the contractor has been instructed to open the gates.
Smith said they should be open by Friday night. The gauge at Low Water Bridge was registering 91.70 as of the 5 p.m. reading. Area residents are hoping for limited impact from melting winter precipitation and spring rains as all impact water levels in this region.
We will continue to monitor this situation for developments.
