Stolen vehicle crashes moments later

At about 9:15 p.m. a vehicle was reported stolen from Blossom Lane in Warren County.
Simultaneously a call came in of a vehicle accident a short distance away on northbound Indiana Avenue just past Fisher-Riles Funeral Home. The owner of the vehicle had left it running while they ran inside, according to reports. The suspect is believed to be a young man in his early teens or even pre-teen who jumped in the running vehicle and drove it a short distance before crashing it. There is no reason to believe he was armed.
According to witnesses, the vehicle left the roadway and ended up on its side. The young man, teenage or pre-teen, jumped out of the vehicle and ran into the wooded area behind Dollar General. Deputies were on the scene within nine minutes of the original call, according to Sheriff Pace. Two minutes later Deputy Dustin Keyes has his K-9 Heidi on the ground searching for the young suspect.
Numerous units with the Sheriff’s Department searched the area and believe the suspect was able to meet with a ride and get out of the area before deputies arrived.
Regardless, numerous deputies and Sheriff Pace remain in the area on the off chance the youth is still hiding in the area.
