Summer Softball: WC defeated Florence 4-2 on Thursday night

Warren Central High School started its summer softball season with a 4-2 win over Florence on Thursday.
“We came out and did everything we were supposed to do, and we’re going to take summer softball seriously, just as if it were the regular season,” Jenn Smith said.
The Lady Vikes quickly took a 3-0 lead early in the game after hits by Jenn Smith, Maddy Pant and Tyra Bridges.
A late bunt from Zion Harvey, followed by an RBI by Sarah Cameron Fancher, gave WC their final run of the night.
Pant pitched in the win, throwing five strikeouts, while Kennedi McKay came in late in the game to finish things off on the rubber. Pant also had a double along with an RBI.
Smith led at the plate with two hits, while Fancher and Harvey both had RBIs.
The JV team suffered an 8-7 loss. Stats will be updated once they are provided.
