Warren County Board of Supervisors

The Warren County Board of Supervisors approved a contract to remove debris left from the 2019 backwater flood in the Eagle Lake area during this morning’s regular meeting.

The county received 10 bids ranging from $33,000 to $167,000, and supervisors awarded the contract the low bidder, Preferred Cleanout Services of Nesbit, Mississippi. The second-lowest bid amount was $38,650.

This contract is about $100,000 lower than an estimate discussed by the previous board. That estimate was priced on a sliding scale based on projected volume. The new board asked bidders to come up with a flat fee for the entirety of the work.

“We found there was a significant opportunity to save the county money,” said District 3 Supervisor Shawn Jackson.

The work should begin work in the next couple of weeks and will take about two weeks to complete.
