Suspect accused of murder leads authorities on pursuit with baby in car

A murder suspect out of East Baton Rouge is currently leading Mississippi Gulf Coast law in authorities on a vehicle pursuit on I-10. As of 3:40 p.m. the chase was ongoing.

Eric Derell Smith, 30, is accused of fatally shooting two people and then fleeing the scene with a 4-month-old baby.  Authorities are in a slow pursuit of Smith, taking extra caution to bring the chase to an end and keep the baby, believed to be in Smith’s lap in the vehicle, safe.

Smith is driving a blue Nissan Altima with tinted windows, according to WLOX.
