Suspect arrested for the murder of Ole Miss student
Authorities arrested Brandon Theesfeld, a 22-year-old Fort Worth man, for the murder of University of Mississippi student Alexandria “Ally” Kostial, 21.
A Lafayette County deputy found Kostial’s body Saturday in Harmontown, Miss., about 20 miles from the Ole Miss campus, during a routine patrol of Buford’s Ridge fishing camp on Sardis Lake. Kostial had been shot eight times.
Kostial was a rising senior at Ole Miss, taking classes and working at the school this summer. Reportedly, she was last seen stopping at the door of a bar Friday night. Kostial was on track to receive her bachelor’s degree in marketing next year.
Police booked Theesfeld into the Lafayette County Jail in Oxford, Miss., at 3:43 p.m. Monday, charging him with murder. He appeared before a judge Tuesday; however, bail was not decided.
Theesfeld is a Texas native and was also a senior at the University of Mississippi, according to his Facebook page. Both he and Kostial were students in the School of Business Administration. The university suspended Theesfeld after his arrest.
Police have not released details about whether Theesfeld and Kostial knew each other, if they did.
