Jaquan Burden, 20, was already out on bail when he stole a truck Monday from a convenience store at Lee Road and Indiana Avenue. He turned himself in to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office the following day. The truck was recovered behind a home on Ironwood Drive.

Wednesday, Justice Court Judge Jeff Crevitt refused to set bond on the new charges citing Burden’s pending charges before a higher court.

Burden was charged with burglary and armed robbery in connection with a September 2018 incident and had been released on $50,000 bond.

Later Wednesday, Circuit Court Judge Toni Terrett ordered Burden held without bond, revoking the first bond in part because he had failed to maintain a charge on the ankle monitor he was wearing.

District attorney Ricky Smith said Thursday morning that if an offender is accused of another felony while free on bond, his policy is to request that the court hold the offender without bond until all matters can be adjudicated.
