Suspect named in Monday burglary and chase

The Vicksburg Police Department has released the following information about a suspect taken into custody Monday.

At 2:44 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Super 8 Hotel, 4127 Interstate 20 Frontage Road, about an earlier auto burglary that occurred at USA Pawn, 235 Warrenton Road.

The victim stated that a .243-gauge rifle had been stolen from the truck at the pawnshop, and the suspects were seen near the Super 8.

After a foot pursuit, Emajjun Gibson, 18, of Hermanville, Mississippi, was taken into custody at the Circle K convenience store, 3060 Indiana Ave. He has been charged with one count of auto burglary and is being held until he makes his initial appearance in Vicksburg Municipal Court Wednesday, July 22.
