Tallulah resident accuses ex-officer of Cash App bond request
A Tallulah resident, Sharonica Renee Carter, has made accusations against a former officer of the Tallulah Police Department, claiming he asked her to send bond money through the Cash App following her arrest.
According to a report by KNOE, Carter alleges that after her arrest for theft and resisting an officer on June 16, a former Tallulah police officer, Edward Nash, told her to send bond money using Cash App. A Cash App screenshot reflects a refund request of $115, Carter’s bond amount, made to Nash.
In text exchanges between Carter and the Police Chief Buster McCoy, Carter emphasized her lack of a receipt for the bond amount, to which McCoy replied, “No problem we got it.”
Chief McCoy, when approached by KNOE for comments, opted not to participate in an on-camera discussion but clarified that Officer Nash no longer serves with the police department. He further highlighted that Cash App is not an official medium of transaction for the police department.
Carter stated she still has not received the refund from Nash. Carter’s arraignment is scheduled for Oct. 9.
