The Southwest Chapter of the American Red Cross of Mississippi announced Friday that it has named Tamica Jeuitt as its executive director.

“It is my honor to work with some of the most compassionate people in the country, our volunteers,” Jeuitt said in the statement posted on social media. “I am looking forward to working closely with communities to inform them of Red Cross services and programs and inspire those who desire to serve others to explore Red Cross opportunities.”

Warren County is among the 21 Mississippi counties served by the Southwest Chapter. The others are Issaquena, Sharkey, Humphreys, Holmes, Madison, Yazoo, Hinds, Rankin, Claiborne, Copiah, Simpson, Jefferson, Lawrence, Lincoln, Franklin, Adams, Wilkinson, Amite, Pike and Walthall.

Jeuitt started her career as a broadcast journalist. She has worked for news stations in Louisiana, Alabama, Indiana and Mississippi. Additionally, she worked as the senior communications specialist for the Mississippi Conference of The United Methodist Church.

She is a graduate of Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in broadcasting.
