Taylon Smith signs to Mississippi College
Vicksburg High School basketball player Taylon Smith has signed a basketball scholarship to play for Mississippi College next season.
Smith, who originally signed to play for Jones CC last month, has decided take his talents to MC to further his playing career.
After much consideration, Smith felt like MC was the best place for him to play.
“These past couple of weeks I’ve been praying and talking about MC to my parents and I chose MC because I feel like it’s a good school and it would be great to further my education there,” Smith said.
Smith played his high school career under head coach Kelvin Carter and helped led the Gators to the second round of the playoffs this season. Smith averaged over 15 points per game for VHS this year and was selected as the Vicksburg Daily News Boy’s Basketball Player of the Year.
Now that he will be at MC, Smith will be playing for Randy Bolden, who is the Jones CC former head coach who granted Smith the opportunity to join him in his first season with the Choctaws.
Vicksburg Daily News will continue to provide updates on Smith’s success in the upcoming years.
