Taylor is now back on the football field playing for EMCC

Vicksburg native Shardez Taylor is back on the football at East Mississippi Community College competing for a starting spot.
Taylor, a former Vicksburg High and Trinity Christian star, sat out of football last season after signing with Copiah-Lincoln Community College out of high school.
“I went for one day but mentally I wasn’t ready because of some things I had going on,” Taylor said.
Taylor played most of his high school career at VHS under former Head Coach Tim Hughes. He was heavily known for dominating on both sides of the ball. He went on to help TC win the Texas Christian Athletic League Championship in his senior year.
After much training and preparation, Taylor is back on the field and has found a new home at EMCC under Head Coach Buddy Stephens.
“I’m glad to be back playing on the field and I’m concentrating on learning the plays but I know I’ll earn my spot real soon,” Taylor said.
EMCC recently wrapped up their spring training as they continue to prepare for the fall.
