shooting report

A 15-year-old was shot and killed by his friend on Saturday after what Jackson Police described was a ‘prank gone wrong’.

Authorities say that Christopher Patton and two friends, Derreon McGowan and Jakuious Galloway, pulled up to the home of their other friend, 16-year-old Joshua Davis, wearing masks and pointed realistic-looking water guns at him.

Davis reacted by pulling a real gun and shooting Patton once in the chest.

Deputy Chief Deric Hearn said that two toy assault rifles and one real handgun was recovered at the scene. Davis, McGowan and Galloway were taken into custody.
