One suspect has been taken into custody and charged with the murder of Delta State University music professor Karen Fosheim, 57.

According to a report by the Darkhorse Press, on Tuesday, around 4 p.m., Boyle Police Officer Justin McClain was conducting a welfare check on North Brooks Avenue. Just over an hour later, at 5:15 p.m., McClain requested assistance from the Bolivar County Sheriff’s Office relating to a possible homicide.

Deputies arrived on the scene to find Fosheim dead on the floor of their home. It appeared she had been suffocated.

Fosheim’s stepson, 14-year-old Alseny Camara, was taken into custody and charged with murder.

Camara was denied bond by a judge on Thursday. He is currently being held at the Bolivar County Regional Correctional Facility.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation helped to process the scene.
