The Vicksburg Daily News once again reached over 1 million people on social media and had almost 3 million ad views on our website over the past 28 days. That is two out of the last three months that you’ve given us those kinds of numbers. Wow.

The numbers as of Saturday, September 18, 2021.

Thank you, once again, Vicksburg and the surrounding areas for your astounding level of support.

It was just a couple of years ago when the ability to communicate things to the community had become difficult. Other forms of media had been replaced by national concerns. Local stories were almost impossible to find or were fabricated versions from corporate concerns that only told the part of the story they wanted you to hear.

At the Vicksburg Daily News, we’re going to report the news.  The good, the bad and otherwise. You may not always like the news, but it is a newspaper’s duty to report. We know we’ve ruffled some feathers and really upset those who only want to give you the corporate-approved version of the news. They can spread all the lies they want, the good people of the community know the Vicksburg Daily News works for you, not the corporations or the establishment. We work for you and will continue to do so.

“It is a newspaper’s duty to report the news and raise hell.” – Wilbur F. Storey, Chicago Tribune.

On June 1, 2019, the Vicksburg Daily News transitioned from a fun thing we did to help out in the community into a legitimate business concern. Since that time a lot has changed. Keith Phillips sports reports are the most widely read and shared in the area – it’s not even close. Just a few weeks ago another one of his stories went viral and reached well over 1 million people.

Marcus James leads the nightly news brief in a polished and professional presentation that is unlike anything Vicksburg has ever enjoyed before. All your news in a 3-5 minute video tailor-made for the modern news consumer including a weather update from Alex Long. Marcus is also taking on more of the live reporting on breaking news and those are our most-watched segments of all garnering over 400k views in the last 28 days.

Our hard-working and strong editorial staff includes the recent addition of long-time Vicksburg news editor Karen Gamble. Gamble’s lifetime of news experience and generations of family connections to the Vicksburg area gives us an added strength unlike anything else Vicksburg has seen in almost a decade.

For a local business, there is no better platform for messaging than the Vicksburg Daily News. With our flexible rate structure and the myriad of advertising products, your business will get in front of the right people in the community. We can show you exactly how many people saw your ad and we encourage you to challenge your current advertising source to show you the numbers.

They can’t, but the Vicksburg Daily News can. Tell them “Show me the numbers!”

In closing, thank you Vicksburg and Warren County for standing with us to make Vicksburg a better community by presenting the whole story and the truth – the good, the bad and otherwise.
