The check’s in the mail: How to track your economic impact payment
Because of the COVID-19 crisis, U.S. taxpayers can expect to receive a one-time $1,200 economic impact payment from the IRS this week.
Some folks have already received the payment deposited directly into their bank accounts. For those who haven’t, the IRS set up a website Wednesday where you can track the status of your payment and provide additional information if necessary.
On the Get My Payment page, you will be asked to enter some basic information about yourself to track your payment. You may need your 2019 tax return, if you have filed it, or your 2018 return.
For those who have not filed or are not required to file taxes in 2018 or 2019, the site also provides instructions on how to proceed.
Essentially, iff your adjusted gross income is $75,000 or less and you have a social security number, you are eligible to receive the payment. Married couples making $150,000 or less will receive $2,400. Additionally, parents will receive $500 for each qualifying child.
Payments for single filers (or married filing separately) with gross incomes over $75,000 annually are incrementally reduced up to $99,000. Single filers with gross incomes over $99,000 may not get a payment.
