The football season officially starts on Friday for both Warren Central and Vicksburg High School with the Red Carpet Bowl.

This year, the Red Carpet Bowl will be held at WC with Vicksburg taking on Germantown at 6 p.m.

The Mavericks defeated the Gators 34-14 in 2021, but VHS, under Head Coach Todd McDaniel, has returned nearly everyone from last year’s roster and is looking better than ever.

Down Highway 27, the Vikings are set to battle Forest Hill after shutting them out 27-0 last year.

WC’s defense is expected to be on point once again in 2022 under Head Coach Josh Morgan.

The Red Carpet Bowl will be the first game before both WC and VHS go against each other in the following week.

Vicksburg Daily News will provide coverage throughout Friday night’s games.

Other games:

  • St. Aloysius will travel to play Centreville
  • Porters Chapel will host Manchester
