The Flashes picked up two wins over Greenville St. Joe on Thursday
St. Aloysius baseball team picked up two wins over Greenville St. Joe on Thursday.
Game one:
The Flashes got things started with a single from Keller Bradley followed by an RBI from Conner Gaul. After a sacrifice by Carson Smith and Cole Autrey, Robert Lee would score off a wild pitch to put the score at 4-0.
Late in the first inning, John David Liggett brought in two runs after a nice hit as the Flashes went up 7-0 at the end of the first.
Headed into the second, Barrett Shows sent a couple of batters back to the dugout. He also got an RBI to push the lead to 8-0.
Matthew Pitre got a hit in the third while Liggett and Connor Gaul both picked up RBIs as St. Al went up 10-0.
Greenville St. Joe earned three runs in the fourth that mostly came from errors but Bradley and Damien Reeves would both get a double that brought in four runs as the game was eventually called with a 15-3 final.
Liggett, Bradley and Shows all had two hits while Pitre and Reeves both had one hit. Bradley, Reeves and Liggett all had two RBIs.
Shows struck out six in game one.
Game two:
The Flashes made a quick comeback to defeat the Fighting Irish 11-8.
A double by Autrey in the first inning tied the game at one heading into the second.
Greenville St. Joe would grab three runs in the third inning to take a 4-1 lead. The Flashes wouldn’t respond until the fifth after a double by Pitre and a single from Smith to put the score at 4-3.
GSJ would get one run in the sixth but Liggett, Autrey, Bradley and Reeves all picked up hits in the inning along with Gaul who got a triple as the Flashes went up 11-5. They would eventually take the 11-8 win.
Autrey and Bradley both had two hits while Reeves, Smith, Pitre and Gaul all had one.
Pitre struck out 10 in the win and Autrey came in late to strikeout four.
The Flashes will travel to GSJ next Thursday.
