The school board held a meeting on Monday

According to the Vicksburg Warren School District website, the school board met on Monday at 2 p.m. to discuss two topics.
According to a time stamp on the document, it appears the school board announced the meeting at 12:50 p.m. on Monday, 1 hour and 10 minutes before the meeting was held. The Vicksburg Daily News has yet to confirm that information via media contact Christi Kilroy or board attorney Briggs Hopson.
Mississippi State Code § 25-41-13 makes provisions for school districts to call meetings with an hour’s notice:
“Except as otherwise provided by law, a notice of a called special meeting shall be posted to the public body’s website, if the public body has a website and has the capability to update the website, not less than one (1) hour before the meeting. A copy of this notice shall be transmitted via email or facsimile not less than one (1) hour before the meeting to any citizen and any publication, broadcast and digital media with a general circulation or coverage within the public body’s jurisdiction, that has submitted in writing its interest to receive these notices.”
Cassandra Lewis with the district took a call from the Vicksburg Daily News and confirmed a meeting was held on Monday but that she was not in attendance. Lewis also commented that they could not comment on the meeting and that we would have to contact Christi Kilroy.
There were only two action items on the agenda. The first was labeled in the agenda as an “Audit Extension” to approve an amendment to a contract for professional services from the L. Reeves CPA, PLLC for a school audit of the 2020 financials. The amount was $68,750 broken down as 550 hours x $125 per hour.
The second item listed on the agenda was “Superintendent’s Evaluation” to be held in an executive session.
The school district media contact person, Christi Kilroy has not responded to an email sent by the Vicksburg Daily News on Monday, at 4:52 p.m. requesting information about the meeting.
Kilroy has also not responded to two email requests for information on comments made by school board member Jim Stirgus, Jr. at the last board meeting.
The Vicksburg Daily News reached out to board attorney Briggs Hopson for information at 10:55 a.m. and 11:32 a.m. Tuesday morning. Hopson has not responded by the time of publication.
