Warren Central High School baseball team took down No.3 ranked Northwest Rankin 6-1 on Friday night.

Brooks Willoughby controlled the first couple of innings by striking out a few batters.

The Vikings would find that spark in the third inning after a single by Blake Channell and a double from Kylan Landers that brought in the first run. Channell would score on a wild pitch to put WC up 2-0.

The Cougars would get on the board in the fourth after a double from Saxton which would be their lone score.

As Willoughby continued to show his arm strength by throwing strikes, his fellow teammates pitched in by contributing at the plate.

Landers and Seth Sterling both picked up RBIs right before Maddox Lynch hit a home run with one man on base to put WC up 6-1.

Connor Watkins came in late in the game and didn’t allow any runs in the win. Willoughby struck out 13 and only allowed two hits.

Landers went 2 for 3 at the plate with two RBIs. Lynch also had two RBIs while he, Channell and Sterling each had a hit.

The Vikings will travel to Brandon on Monday.
