Things That Go Bump Celebration Raises Funds for CAP Center
]]>
Mid September welcomed the Halloween season early with Vicksburg’s first year of, The Things That Go Bump Celebration, hosted by Imagicopter. For this historical Mississippi town, a festival was held regarding the paranormal, horror, science fiction, steampunk, and mystery genres for the community. Artists and authors alike came out and donated their time and talent not only to entertain the city but to raise money for Vicksburg’s Child and Parent Center – formerly called the Child Abuse Prevention Center. The event, held at the Vicksburg Warren Public Library, drew more than 150 attendees throughout the day.
This year the lineup of vendors gathered at The Vicksburg Library and included Professor Alan Brown (Historical Paranormal Author), Alexander S. Brown (Horror Author, Artist, Organizer, & Mississippi Imagicopter Leader), Angela L. Burke (Paranormal Poet & Paranormal Investigator with Mississippi Society of Paranormal Investigators), Patrick Burns (Artist & Guest of TV Show Paranormal Challenge & Haunting Evidence), Linda DeLeon (Vampire Author), Marley Gibson (Best Selling Author of the Young Adult Ghost Huntress Series), Roman Merry (Paranormal Artist), J.L. Mulvihill (Young Adult Fantasy Author & Mississippi Imagicopter Leader), Mississippi Society of Paranormal Investigators, Mississippi Paranormal Society, Carol Parks (Reiki Instructor and Aura Cleanser), Richard Parks (Short Story Fantasy/Horror Author), Ben Shi (Horror/Mystery Author), Glen Stripling (Science Fiction/Mystery Author), Truth Seekers Paranormal Research, and Courtney Vice (Fantasy Artist). The Things That Go Bump Celebration, a family event, allowed families and friends to gather in an open-minded environment which allowed guests to visit with their favorite authors, artists, and paranormal groups. A raffle that was held in honor for the Child Abuse Prevention center was able to raise great funds to assist in the efforts of the organization. Special thanks are given to Jennifer Smith of the Vicksburg Library, Patrick Burns and Marley Gibson, Carol Parks, Linda DeLeon, Shelly Beard of Mississippi Society of Investigators, David Childress and Rob Hood of Truth Seekers, and Brian Riley for their donations, time, and talents. Notice should also be brought to Imagicopter, McAllisters, Morgan Gates of Vicksburg Ghost Tours, The Print Shop, The Cricket Box, and The McNutt House for their support. After The Things That Go Bump Celebration came to an end, an afterhours ghost hunt was lead at Vicksburg’s McNutt House. Leaders of this investigation were Patrick Burns and Marley Gibson, Truth Seekers, and Mississippi Society of Paranormal Investigators. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity that granted the general public the chance to see first hand what a paranormal investigation consisted of. By the end of the night all guests walked away completely satisfied where even one skeptic admitted he was now one step closer to believing.
